Bernetta Reese is an accomplished leader with a multidisciplinary background in strategic leadership, communications and public relations, emergency response, policy and governance, collaboration and partnerships, digital services, analytics, technology and innovation, public and community engagement, and program management.

Bernetta has served across the federal government, alongside the military, and worked directly with almost every U.S. Cabinet-level department, including the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Labor, OPM, GSA, NASA, and The White House.

Bernetta currently serves in a supervisory role at the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, United States Marine Corps. She also serves as the Executive Chair for the University of Maryland Global Campus Student Advisory Council and as Vice President of Undergraduate Affairs for the University System of Maryland Student Council—representing 180,000+ students.

In 2019, Bernetta served as senior advisor and expert analyst on the effectiveness of social media, outreach programs and policies in the Executive Office for United States Attorneys and led digital and strategic communications for 94 United States Attorneys' Offices across the nation. Prior to working for the United States Attorney's Office, she managed interagency collaboration, digital technology, data and analytics, and high-level priorities, while engaged in department- and federal-wide initiatives as the digital lead for USDA.

In 2016, she served as the Acting Digital Director for OPM where she oversaw all of the agency’s digital platforms while working to highlight the Federal workforce and initiatives across government. In 2015, Bernetta led the design and development team that built America's first-ever Federal Crowdsourcing and Citizen Science Toolkit with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President.

With more than two decades of public service, she has served throughout the Federal government with outstanding achievements and award-winning results. She has spoken at public and private-industry events across the nation's capital, including the Schaeffer Fellows Summit and the National Press Club, and as a guest speaker with the Advanced Technology Academic Research Center, Federal Computer Week, the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council, the Partnership for Public Service, GovLoop, Potomac Forum, Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, and the National Defense University.

Bernetta is also active in the community working with homeschool families and with youth as a 4-H volunteer and certified archery instructor through the University of Maryland Extension.
